Sunday p2

We traveled under a mix of clouds and sun, but the temps allowed 'top down' driving all the way to Brattleboro, VT.

Our ride across New Hampshire was fairly uneventful, and we even ran into a Sunday driver or two! Then just before reaching Rt. 95 Eric and Lori Weathers made a bold move in the Porsche. After passing us (in position 2) they took off, passing both Eric & Jodi (in the Audi TT -leading the group) and the pokey driver ahead of them. I looked for my opportunity and followed. What we didn't know, was that Eric and Lori had previously expressed a need to break off and return home in time to retrieve their kids. This did not come up in discussion however even though we used our radios heavily for the next two hours. We found nothing but open road once we hit Rt 91 S. I guess Denise and I thought the rest of the group would have followed, but that did not appear to be the case, and we quickly lost touch with them. We were having so much fun exchanging the lead and eating up that beautiful highway that before we knew it we were approaching Brattleboro in southern Vermont. (I would like to apologize to those we left behind for our untimely departure. (forgive us Father for we knew not what we did wrong)

We did have a blast exchanging the lead between the P-car and the little 1.9l and we won't mention what three digits the 1.9l hit in a wide open stretch of straight highway a good 20 minutes before we came upon a trooper in the wooded median. Either he wasn't set up, or our breaking to 80 mph was sufficient to get us by without an incident. We were all rather preoccupied w/ the road as neither of us took many pictures in the three hours from Rumford to Brattleboro. It was 5pm when Eric and Lori followed us off the Brattleboro exit where we promptly found a Dunkin Donuts! (Lori's personal favorite) You do not what to know where half of my large coffee ended up, but I will tell you that last week I cleaned and conditioned my tannin red leather seats with Lexol cleaner and conditioner.

We said goodbye to Eric and Lori (what a fun couple) as they continued on while we headed towards town to find lodging. A newly built Holiday Inn Express was to our liking and reasonable, once we got the night manager down in price. We unpacked the car, freshened up and took off to find some dinner. We found an awesome little rib join (who's name escapes me) who had a screened outdoor seating overlooking the river. After dinner we called it a night.
