We
woke to blue skies and sun, even if the temps were a little on the cool
side. But would you think that would stop us from
going 'tops down?' Heck, NO!
I
think I was the first one to retrieve my car from the 'out of the way'
section of the parking lot the hotel had set aside for us. Of course the
first thing I did was drop the top and reattach my windscreen. Others
relaxed inside the hotel restaurant enjoying the morning sunshine from
within.
But
eventually, all brought their cars up front to check out and all had
'tops down.' One last shot of the mountain, as we left to explore.
(gotta make it back here again during ski season, this place looks
awesome)
We
won't mention how a few of us got separated from the group which Judy
was leading to 'outback Jewelry Store' but let me remind you to be sure
to use your drink holders for coffee even if that means moving the
cooler full of bottled water between the seats) Pulling over to clean
your seat you notice that the group is pulling out. So after hasty
cleaning, you jump back in and take off attempting to catch up. The only
trouble is they are well beyond sight so you grab your trusty FRS radio,
only to learn that your batteries are dead. Do we have a
spare set of AA batteries handy? Nope!
We
did eventually catch up with others who chose not to do the Jewelry run
and instead tool around town. First we ran into Larry and Jerry, who let
their wives take one car so they could cruise around on their own, in
the other. We, (ZOO///M and I) had to run a few errands that needed
immediate attention. First, I needed batteries for the talkabout,
secondly we needed to return to the hotel to check out and turn in our
keys! Following that, four of five of us met at the hotel and drove to a
historic covered bridge which was actually quite near the hotel. There
and would easily use up the remainder of the hour we had before meeting
the whole group at the Brewery at 11:30.
After
exhausting all angles of the bridge for picture taking opportunities, we
headed back to the Brewery on the corner of Sunday River Road.
Eventually our line stretched to twelve.
Lunch
inside was grand and we even had surprise guests show up in one deadly
looking UAV . Urban Assault Vehicle Judy's
daughter and son-in-law drove up in their new custom painted Hummer!
Hey, at least it's a ragtop?
Following
some goodbyes to the locals, the rest of us headed out for home, now
almost 2pm.
