Off theM. B.

Fall has peaked and perhaps even passed us by here in CNY. I regret taking longer than I had hoped to get this post up but, but better late than never, right?

And although beautiful, the fall provides a bitter-sweet prelude to the end of my 'Roadster Season.'  It is, however, my favorite time of the year. The countryside is spectacular with mother nature's splendid palette of golds, reds and browns contrasting beautiful sunny-blue skies (when 'she' cooperates).

Picture taking opportunities are abundant, and a new job in the photographic field has spawned a rediscovery and appreciation of an old long-time passion (FILM). While digital imagery has moved to the forefront of photography, film has not stood still. Color and B&W films have made rather large advances in the last 15 years. Couple those with high resolution digital negative scanning and you get the best of both worlds. The expanse of increased sensitivity and finer grain film with the flexibility of digital processing, via Photoshop etc. The results (both digital & film) follow below.

Stopping for some homegrown sweet corn nearly two weeks after the grocery stores ran out.

A lonely silo makes a fitting fall backdrop.

Lakeshore road, posed by fall color which provided incredible highlights for this arctic silver Z.

Did I mention the redo on my red calipers? A rather funny/lucky thing happened to the 3-year-old epoxy lacquer over time. I should have realized this 2 years ago when I touched up a few nicks and got darker shade of red.

This time, after sanding, priming the bare spots and 2 full coats, when dry, the calipers turned a beautiful shade of Tanin Red. A perfect match with the interior.

Peak color actually came mid month, culminating on the weekend of October 16th + 17th,   but while Saturday was sunny...

Sunday it rained all day. I still managed to capture some color on the way to a good friend's house (an hour north of the city)

He lives on this lovely dead-end road.

I broke out the 'ole stars & stripes' last week in honor of our troops and all the magnetic ribbons cars are bearing these days.   While they look OK from a distance, you will note that the white stars are beginning to peel & curl. The 3rd edition was made with red, white and blue vinyl tape, I was forced to paint paper stick-on colored stars after failing to find white vinyl ones anywhere.

The cold fall nights, while forcing the color change, bring much cooler temps during the day. No matter what temp, as long as its sunny my top is down.   A new black wool cap helps keep the top warm,

But on really cold days the concealed ear flaps provide a great block to the chill rising over the windscreen. Now I know they are not real flattering, and I hate hats in general. You may laugh but under these circumstances I make concessions.   An updated shot of her nose with newly replaced plate cover, the old one had yellowed terribly in the last two years.

A shot (top up) near the end of the Fall Season
